Leeann Agee, the artist behind Sierra Wildlight Art, is a Grass Valley–based painter and writer whose work is rooted in a lifelong relationship with the Sierra Nevada landscape. Summers spent at her family's rustic cabin — built by her father's own hands, on the edge of Desolation Wilderness — shaped her earliest connection to forest, granite peaks, alpine lakes, and shifting mountain light.

Her creative path began in interior design, where natural elements — branches, vines, stone, and found textures — became an extension of the wild indoors. A fascination with the rare snow plant deepened her curiosity about the hidden systems of the natural world, inspiring years of exploration across elevations and borders — from the granite peaks of the Sierra de la Laguna in southern Baja California to the forests of Oregon and beyond.

Through photography and paint, Leeann studies fleeting light and quiet moments in nature. Nearly all of her paintings emerge from her own field photography, translated into layered compositions that seek to preserve atmosphere, luminosity, and presence.

Her current body of work reflects this devotion to the interplay between wilderness and illumination — the way light transforms terrain, reveals texture, and stirs emotion. Each piece invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and step into the stillness of the natural world.
